New England Particles -- Jason Gallicchio

New England Particle Physics Retreat

Harvard sponsored a school/retreat for the students in New England area schools interested in going into particle physics.  It was at a professor's ski club in New Hampshire.

I drove there with Kris.

There was this swimming area near by called Lady's Bathtub.

It was in between two rocky areas of this mountain stream.

Perfect Kris...

Natasha enjoyed it so much that she was the first in and the last out....

On Tuesday afternoon, I went hiking with Reyco (Dave's roommate from MIT), Natasha, and Ben.

Ah, water.

It's good to be on top.

Everybody else took a cable-car to the top -- it's destination is the house behind us.

Natasha admiring the view before the hike to the cable car house.

Amazingly, we made it there minutes before they all arrived.

Admiring man's ability to build such a cable-car lift.

The electrical engineer in me demanded this picture.

A quick break before running back down.

On Thursday we went with John Huth up a different montain.

Natasha insisting I be in at least one of these hiking pictures (along with new Harvard grad student Lauren from Caltech.)

It seems every time John Huth goes hiking here, it has been rainy and foggy.

After running full speed up the first third of the mountain, John finally took a break and allowed the die-hard hikers who had managed to follow him to rest before continuing up to the top.

Finally at the top.  Look at our amazing up-close view of the fog.

Me standing on a rock, pointing out that I was at the very top.

Lauren on that rock.

Sevil probably pointing out that it was actually a little higher where we had just come from.

Part of the lake the four of us swam in on Tuesday.

This time we did make it back for dinner at the ski club.
