CRW Hanscom 36-mile ride

GPS route: download (Garmin MapSource file)
Enlarged maps: page 1, page 2
Distance: 36 miles. Elevation: xxxx ft.
Comments: This is a great ride, mostly on back roads. Missing the congested inner-Boston roads by driving to Hanscom (where parking is free and easy) is totally worth it.
Route: Start at the Civil Air Terminal at the Hanscom Field parking lot. Take a right out of the parking lot, a right on Old Bedford Rd, and follow the "T" markings painted on the pavement. The base of the "T" points you in the righ direction. (More info at the CRW web page)

Farm Pond Loop

Other resources: Rubel BikeMaps has the best set of bicycling maps of Massachusetts; I particularily like the "Regional" maps. The Harvard University Cycling Association (HUCA) has a nice map, too. The Charles River Wheelmen (CRW) sponsor some very nice rides. For bike rides on Cape Cod, check out this web page; it has good maps of the Claire Saltonstall bikeway from Boston to Procincetown.

Notes: I'm posting the GPS routes in the Garmin proprietary format (.mps). Unfortunately, MapSource doesn't allow me to convert this into an ASCII format. If it did, I'd be happy to post the text files. Also, I'm not writing down turn-by-turn directions. Sorry. That's why I bought a GPS. With a good map, you could probably follow the route notes, but they're really more to jog my memory. If you have any corrections or comments, please email me.
