Walden Pond LoopGPS route: download (Garmin MapSource file)Distance: 35 miles. Elevation: 1500 ft. Route: Harvard Square to the Minute Man trail head. Minute Man trail to the end. Go to Bedford, follow Route 225 and Route 62 to Concord Center. Take Walden Street out of CC and across Route 2, where it turns into Route 126. Continue on Route 126 past Walden pond to Baker Bridge Road. This merges with Trapelo Road, and eventually Belmont St. Brattle Street and some side streets return one to Harvard Square. |

Sherman Bridge LoopGPS route: download (Garmin MapSource file)Distance: 47 miles. Elevation: 2100 ft. Route: Harvard Square to the Minute Man trail head. Minute Man trail to the end. Go to Bedford, follow Route 225 and Monument St. to Concord Center. Take Walden Street out of CC and across Route 2, where it turns into Route 126. Continue on Route 126 past Walden pond. Glezen Lane bears right and you follow it in a loop back to Route 126 via Old Sudbury Rd., Water Row Rd., Lincoln Rd./Sherman's Bridge. Cut Back on Route 126 to Waltham Rd. Lincoln Rd. brings one back to Trapelo Rd. (perhaps taking a detour on the parallel Concord Rd.). Trapelo Rd. leads to Belmont St., Brattle St., and some side streets back into Harvard Square. |

Concord-Harvard LoopGPS route: download (Garmin MapSource file)Distance: xx miles. Elevation: xxxx ft. Route: From Concord Center, take Lowell Rd, then a left on Barretts Mill Rd. Take a right on Strawberry Hill Rd all the way to a right Route 119 (Great Rd). A quick left on Brook St will bring you to Route 27, where you'll take a left. Take a left on Nagog Hill Rd. Follow Nagog for a while until you take a left on Nashoba Rd. After a quick jog left on Newton Rd, take a right on Harwood Ave, which will take you all the way into Harvard, MA. Take a left on Sanderson Rd, then a right on Oak Hill Rd which you'll follow as it turns into Old Littleton Rd. Take a right on Pinnacle Rd and admire the orchard on your right. On the way back, simply retrace your steps. For Variety, in Acton you can continue on Nagog Hill Rd, take a right on Concord Rd (which eventually merges with Great Rd). Take a left on Pope Rd, then a left on Strawberry Road to rejoin the route. |

Missing the congested inner-Boston roads by driving to Hanscom (where parking is free and easy) is totally worth it. Route: Start at the Civil Air Terminal at the Hanscom Field parking lot. Take a right out of the parking lot, a right on Old Bedford Rd, and follow the "T" markings painted on the pavement. The base of the "T" points you in the righ direction.
